THE FINAL STOP ON THE AUSTRALIAN QS, THE AVOCA PRO 3000

by Tru Starling

With the last event of the 4 stop series coming to an end. Letโ€™s take a look back and see who came on top.

With the swell producing some pretty good waves at Avoca beach, the left at the pines was very fun for a free surf and even better for a heat with only 3 other people out.

With the finals day coming down to the pointy end, we saw some great surfing go down through the 6 days and some even better surfing to finish it off.

Semi final one featured the CT Veteran Sally Fitzgibbons take on the up and coming Molly Picklum. With it being a very tight heat and plenty of waves coming through, Molly ended up taking the win off the Veteran and scored herself a spot in the Final.

Semi final two was an incredible semi with CT surfer Macy Callaghan taking on long time QS surfer Freya Prumm. With both the girls having strong backhands, Macy got the jump on Freya and secured herself a spot in the final alongside Molly.

Quick shout out to Matt Banting for taking the win of the menโ€™s draw and Jacob Willcox coming in second. Incredible surfingโ€ฆ

As the womenโ€™s final gets underway Macy locks away some excellent surfing dropping a pair of 7s very early on in the heat. But Molly Picklum has been training against World Champion Tyler Wright, so she was staying cool, calm and collected throughout the 35 minute heat and managed to lock in two 7s as well and got herself in the lead.

In the dying minutes, Macy rides a pretty insane wave to try to get herself up into the lead however falling short of the score meaning Molly Picklum won her second ever QS event and her first ever QS 3000! Congratulations Molly. Also, congratulations Macy, some high level surfing being laid down throughout the whole event!

And thatโ€™s it for the events for a little while. But we will definitely be keeping you all updated for the CT events coming up very very soon! Stay tunedโ€ฆ
