STOP 5 OF 6 OF THE AUS OPEN OF SURF SEES FREYA PRUMM TAKE THE WIN

by Tru Starling

Stop 5 of the 6 event series was held at untouched Narooma with the event being full of surprises. Day 1 featured an extremely short day with the event being called off due to howling winds literally blowing the tents away!

So with day one of the event called off, everyone had the day to rest up for a big day of action on finals day. Ratings leader Cedar Leigh-Jones had a tricky heat for waves and was knocked out of competition early, leaving the top spot open for the taking. With the final nearing, all the ladies in the line up put on a clinic.

Skye Burgess and Kasey Hargreaves put on a great show throughout the event and found their way into the final alongside young gun Keira Buckpitt and the โ€˜chemistโ€™ Freya Prumm. With the final being a little slow for waves, the ladies were still putting up an epic fight.

But, Freya Prumm was just in sync throughout the whole event and ended up taking it out with an outstanding 13.83 heat total. Young gun Keira Buckpitt came in second, surfing well above her age landing an 11.70 total. Skye Burgess and Kasey Hargreaves were a close third and fourth, just unable to find the opportunities out there.

With one more event on the list, stop number 6 will be held at the prestigious North Narrabeen with a jam packed line up, itโ€™s going to be an exciting finish to an exciting 6 weeks.
