Make A Wave: SurfAid & Billabong
Could you imagine surfing every day for a whole month and while doing that youโre also raising money? Pretty cool right! Well SurfAid has teamed up with Billabong and have created this epic idea to surf every day in the month of September all the while raising money for SurfAid!
The Make A Wave challenge is open to surfers of all ages and abilities, people who are keen to surf everyday for a whole month to raise money for SurfAidโs programs supporting access to healthcare, clean water and food security for families in remote surf communities.
Billabong is one of the major sponsors and has some pretty incredible team riders as ambassadors for this insane initiative. Current CT Rookie Isabella Nichols and big wave charger Laura Enever will be a part of the movement as well as Murmur Magโs very own Jesse Starling joining the ride, SurfAid are looking forward to things kicking off in September!
Last year, SurfAid reached more than 52,000 people living in remote surf communities around the world and helped give them access to basic services. Sadly, due to COVID, many people resulted in poverty due to the economic shock of the pandemic. SurfAid has stated that โThe Make A Wave foundation aims to raise $100,000 to support our programs in places like the Mentawai Islands where our support is needed more than ever.โ
So, sign up is on the 21st of July at www.makeawave.com.au and with $1,000 worth of Billabong prizes up for grabs, youโd be mad if you didnโt want to join the journey!! Also, most surfers are out in the water everyday anyway so youโll be able to make a difference doing what you love!
