LUANA SILVA AND HER ROAD TO VICTORY IN PORTUGAL
With the second event of the Challenger Series finishing with a bang, we see some familiar and new faces emerging through the pointy end of the event.ย
Gabriela Bryan is the most consistent surfer in the CT series so far and she showed us all why she deserves to be at the top end of the ratings and almost guaranteeing herself a qualification spot for 2022. Her strength and aggressive attack in her surfing was a true testament to why she was in both finals of the challenger series events so far.
With 13 seconds to go, Gabi was in the lead and looked as though she had locked in her first challenger series win, but fellow Hawaiian Luana Silva was not about to give up without a fight and scored an 8.23 to seal the victory in the dying moments. With 10,000 points to her name and jumping to 3rd on the ratings, she could be in a good chance to qualify for the CT also. If the Challenger Series keeps going this way, get ready to see some fresh Hawaiian faces on the women’s CT next year for sure!ย
Also, a huge congrats to our fave Jackson Baker for getting runner up in the mens!!!ย
With 2 more events to go, anything could happen for the top few qualification spots for the women’s. We cannot wait to see what the final events hold.
And our tip…. Keep your eye on Bettylou Sakura Johnson…
