LOOKS LIKE 80โ€™S FASHION IS MAKING A COMEBACK IN THE SURF INDUSTRY…

by Jesse Starling

The 80โ€™s was one of the most iconic eraโ€™s for fashion ever. The 80โ€™s was filled with all things tight, bright and high waisted even in the surf industry. The trends were all about  tie dye, paisley, big chunky shoes such as doc martins and flared jeans. We saw this slowly fade out into the 90โ€™s when the rise of the grunge faze came into play. However, recently 80โ€™s fashion has decided to make a major comeback throughout brands all across the world even including some of the leading surf brands such as Billabong, Rip Curl and Roxy. And to be really honest with you we do not have a problem with it at all. Itโ€™s been a long time coming but weโ€™re super glad to see it make a comeback and hope it is here to stay. So letโ€™s take a look at some of the brands newest 80โ€™s comeback fashion.

Billabong womens have recently launched their new Psychedelic range which is jaw dropping. The very old school clothing goes side by side with the electric coloured wetsuits. All pieces are a great staple for the wardrobe going into any season around the world. Oh and did we mention the Blues Motel collection they just dropped! Filled with all things pastel and paisley. With a variety of swimwear cuts and clothing styles to help everybody find their perfect fit. Billabong are going above and beyond to make sure everyone finds something to match their individually perfect shape and size. We love the direction that billabong womens style is going and we canโ€™t wait to see what they release next.ย

Funnily enough as I sit here writing this article I am actually wearing one of Ripcurls new pieces from their recent winter range that is all things 80โ€™s and Tie dye. Along with the Tie dye filled collection of clothes and swimwear, Rip Curl also brought back the return of the all over fluffy jumpers. Boy oh boy are those jumpers comfy. A variety of styles or colours in these jumpers to suit anyone! Rip Curl really hit the nail on the head with this collection. Loving all things Rip Curl this winter and look forward to seeing all things new in spring.ย

Roxy has always put an old school spin on all of their new school collections, however, this year they really took it to a whole new level. From pastel sweaters and hoodies, to matching tie dye sets roxy really hit the mark once again. A personal favourite in their new collection is the mid thigh length denim shorts. Truly love the comeback of this style short and hope it is here to stay. Looking forward to seeing more collections released as the year goes on!

As you can probably tell by now, we are very happy about the old school fashion styles coming back into play now! We are all about the new fashion movement going on within the surf brands as of right now! Cannot wait to see more from these brands and many more.
