We woke up this morning at 5:30am to start a fresh new week and another day at the Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic.
And after Sydney’s northern beaches put on a breathtaking sunrise we hear that the contest is on and with clean running mid size left handers we could see why.

After a series of heats featuring Carissa vs Brissa, Keely vs Malia, Sally vs Macy, Tatiana vs Nikki, Caroline vs Amuro, Johanne vs Tyler, Steph vs Sage and Courtney vs Bronte we started to notice a familiar theme…. There’s definitely not enough lefts on the tour.

The clear stand outs for us were Carissa, Sally, Tatiana and Johanne. And the bulk of those girls went left….
Caroline, Tyler and Steph all opting to push for the lower quality Narrabeen Alley right. Now don’t get us wrong, we love the Alley right and surf it most days but the left was by far the most dominant section on the beach today.
Steph did prove us wrong by getting a good one but hey… She’s Steph!

But here’s a seperate piece of information about the contest..
Narrabeen, in the terms of crowd numbers and crowd stoke has to get a 10 out of 10. We walked into the Rip Curl merchandising store last night (day 2) and pretty much all of the Narrabeen branded contest gear was sold out.

All of the food shops have been absolutely packed and we couldn’t even begin to guess how many coffee’s have been sold over the 3 days…
The weather and water has been beautiful and even with a sub-par North Narrabeen swell for the event the surfers have all been ripping.

So our call to the WSL is, Narrabeen is a world class wave, even when it’s not pumping, the area is picture perfect, the local businesses can cater for big numbers and the community has enjoyed having everyone here… So, maybe it’s time to add North Narrabeen to the CT schedule permanently?
What do you think??
