AFTER A LONG WAIT… EVENTS IN VIC ARE BACK ON!!!

It seems like everyone has been waiting a really long time for events to start back up around the world. In Australia, Queensland went first with events, shortly after New South Wales released a schedule of multiple events along the east Australian coastline. Victoria however had been very quiet in regards to when they will hold events again (and for a very good reason, to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 outbreak).
And after what seems to be a very loooooooong time, events are back ON in Vic! With the first (of what we’re sure to be many events) being held at Jan Juc. The iconic Rip Curl Grom Search event saw surfers from the Victorian Surf Coast dominating the whole event winning 5 out of the 6 divisions.
The prestigious event has seen many big names over the years like Tyler Wright, Steph Gilmore, Sally Fitz and many more.
The results are as follows:
16 & Under Girls
1st Emily McGettigan – 13.34
2nd Ellie Harrison – 12.67
3rd Mia Huppatz – 8.57
4th Poppy Corbett – 7.30
14 & Under Girls
1st Isla Huppatz – 17.83
2nd Sarsha Pancic – 9.84
3rd Sonia Seuren – 6.90
4th Jess McGettigan – 5.36
12 & Under Girls
1st Sophie Wilkinson – 10.78
2nd Sara Hickson – 9.30
3rd Maeve Wilkinson – 7.76
4th Lillian Bassed – 2.76
And we can’t forget the boys of the event!! With Ethan Huxtable winning the 16 and under boys, Willis Droomer taking out the 14 and under boys and Remy Filer coming on top in the 12 and under boys division!
So great to see Victoria back up and firing!
